Francisco Miranda Receives Radio Club of America Scholarship

Francisco Miranda, a UT senior majoring in Electrical and Computer Engineering, has been awarded a $2,000 scholarship from the Radio Club of America, based on his academic achievements as well as his strong interest in the wireless communications field. The Radio Club of America is the world's oldest radio communications society, founded in New York City in 1909 for charitable, educational, and scientific purposes. Their scholarship program is among the finest and most successful in the electronics industry. The Radio Club of America holds its annual awards banquet every Friday before Thanksgiving at the New York Athletic Club in midtown Manhattan, and includes hundreds of the pioneers of the wireless communications field.

Miranda will complete his BS degree in December 2003, and his future plans include graduate study in the wireless communications field. He spent a summer as a research assistant in WNCG's Wireless Systems Innovations Laboratory (WSIL), working on LabVIEW simulations of MIMO wireless communications systems under the direction of Prof. Robert W. Heath, Jr., a WNCG faculty member.
