Student Yingzhe Li Places Top 12 in Worldwide Broadcom Competition

IRVINE, Calif. – June 5, 2015 – The University of Texas at Austin graduate student Yingzhe Li presented innovative engineering research at the fourth annual Broadcom Foundation University Research Competition sponsored by Broadcom Foundation, a non-profit funded by Broadcom Corporation (NASDAQ: BRCM). Li’s project is titled “A Stochastic Geometry Approach to the Coexistence of LTE and Wi-Fi in Unlicensed Spectrum.”

Li was among student finalists from 12 universities competing at Broadcom Corporation’s annual Technical Conference held in Irvine, California on June 4. Selected by Broadcom Foundation’s Selection Committee comprised of preeminent engineers, finalists shared insight into their engineering research and how its future application will contribute to advancement of society. In the final round, more than 400 distinguished Broadcom engineers judge the finalists on a three minute presentation with a single slide and a four hour poster session where they demonstrate the scientific rigor, technology sophistication,innovation of their work. The top three winners are awarded unrestricted cash prizes of $10,000, $5,000 and $2,500 respectively.
