WNCG alumna Nasim Mohammadi Estakhri recently received a Graduate Student Fellowship from the IEEE Photonics Society. The program provides fellowships to outstanding graduate students pursuing education within the society’s field of interest. The fellowship is usually awarded to a student who, at the time of nomination, are in their final year of graduate study.

Each year, 10 students from among the society’s student members are selected based on several main geographical regions, including the Americas, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia and the Pacific. The recipients are selected based on their research excellence and contributions to the society’s publications and conferences and each student receives $1,000.

At WNCG, Estakhri was advised by Prof. Andrea Alù. She is now a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Pennsylvania.
